metalblog02-resized-600There aren’t many places left in this country where one can spend a leisurely summer evening listening to wonderful live music on the common, but the people of Franklin cherish their traditions.  They would no more miss their summer concerts than they would the annual 4th of July parade, where local folks and local businesses put on a show the town loves with all its heart.  And what would the kids do without all that candy tossed from the floats?

Tradition means a lot to the people of Franklin.  Did you know that the town of Franklin was the first town in all vinyl-blogphoto01-resized-600of Massachusetts to change its name to Franklin in honor of Benjamin Franklin?  So it’s not surprising that the homeowners of Franklin are very particular about keeping up the looks of their homes and the image of their town.  That means they are very choosy about the siding they put on their homes.

Siding is important.  Siding is one of the first things that anyone sees as they drive through Franklin’s old-world neighborhoods. Siding sets the tone.  Siding is also important when it comes to conserving energy, so the homeowners of Franklin have a lot to consider when it comes to re-siding a home.

First, they demand a low maintenance siding from any siding contractor in Franklin.  Low maintenance means that they seldom have to do any maintenance on it and that it lasts virtually forever.  No one wants to re-side a home more than once in a lifetime.

In order for a siding to last a lifetime any siding contractor in Franklin must have the best equipment around and must be proficient at working on both tall buildings and working in small, tight spaces.

Obviously any local contractor worth his salt will have sided hundreds of homes in the area and know everythingblog-photo19 there is to know about local permits and building codes.  Oh – and anyone installing low maintenance siding has to understand Energy Star ratings and be able to install highly energy-efficient siding. Qualifying energy efficient products can also get you up to a $500 credit on your tax bill.

That’s a lot to ask for.  The only siding contractor here in Franklin who meets all of these requirements is United Home Experts.  UHE has been siding homes here in Franklin for years.  Drive down Franklin’s streets and you will almost certainly find at least one home or commercial building that has been sided by UHE.  United Home Experts has file cabinets filled with hundreds of satisfied customers willing to provide testimonials for the skill and the friendliness of UHE’s expert installers.

Expert means that UHE’s installers have a lot of experience in both tall buildings as well as in working in small, tight spaces.  They can do it all – and have.  And because they have sided so many homes here in Franklin you can rest easy knowing that UHE will see to all permits and side your home to every local building code.  They know ‘em all.

UHE also knows everything there is to know about Energy Star ratings and how to side a home in order to reduce energy loss and at the same time drive down utility bills, month after month and year after year.

The best is not necessarily more expensive.  The amount of homes that United Home Experts re-sides in this area means that they can keep their prices reasonable, so before you sign with any other siding contractor, at least give United Home Experts a call and find out just how affordable the best can be. For more information about our siding services, visit our main siding page!

Some towns are famous for their Boot Hill, but Medway is famous for its Rabbit Hill.  As anyone in Medway can tell you, the Rabbit Hill Historical District is just jam-packed with rabbits of all kinds and contains almost 60 buildings which were built in the early part of the last century.  Rabbit Hill is also a great location for hikers.

Obviously these historic buildings need special loving care, but the truth is, so do all the wonderful homes in IntegrityBedroomWindow-resized-600Medway.  One of the ways local homeowners keep their property looking authentic while keeping pace with the latest Energy Star innovations is by replacing their old energy-wasting windows with new, high-energy-efficiency windows, especially the latest fiberglass windows and wood framed windows from the Marvin line of quality windows.

It takes a great deal to impress the people of Medway.  When it comes to window replacement in Medway one of the things which most impresses local homeowners is a window contractor who is well known and who has a great reputation.  Homeowners also want someone who knows everything there is to know about Energy Star ratings and replacement windows, since saving energy (and saving on utility bills) is very important. You can also claim up to a $500 credit on your tax bill.

Of course, in order for someone to have a strong local rep that means they will have had to have installed hundreds of windows locally and know local building codes and permits regulations like they know the back of their hand.

There are not many window replacement contractors who measure up around Medway.  In fact, one of the only SHBeautyInterior-resized-600ones who do is United Home Experts.

United Home Experts has installed more replacement windows in the Medway area than just about anyone else so they not only have hundreds of local references they can show you, but they also know everything there is to know about local building codes and permits.

Just leave all the paperwork to the professionals at UHE.

United Home Experts also knows Energy Star ratings up one side and down the other.  They only install the highest quality fiberglass windows or wood frame windows by the Marvin Window Company, one of the recognized world-leaders in energy efficient windows.  The fiberglass windows have the look of genuine wood, never need painting, are lightweight and are priced right.  Marvin wood framed windows are solid with that terrific old-world charm and have one of the highest Energy Star ratings there is.

One last thing to keep in mind as you conclude your research for a window installer.  Many local window contractors hire their installers on a day-to-day basis, picking them up every morning at a local home center parking lot.  Not United Home Experts.  Their window installers have been with the company for years and each and every one of them is expertly-trained and a true craftsman. Which installers would you rather have?

Naturally price matters and most people would assume that the best replacement window installers would also be the most expensive, but that is not necessarily the case.  United Home Experts installs more windows than just about anyone else, which allows them to keep their prices quite reasonable.  So give them a call – and find out just how affordable the very best window installers really are.

One thing the people of Medway take seriously is their football and the town’s pride was certainly enhanced when the New England Intensity of the Woman’s Football League choose Medway’s Hanlon Field as the venue for all of their home games.

Of course, football is only one thing the people of Medway take seriously.  Homeowners here in Medway also take great pride in the way their homes look, knowing that the way a home looks reflects the pride which people have in their town.  Naturally homeowners want their home’s roof to reflect their pride of ownership.  After all, a home’s roof is one of the first things anyone notices about a home.  A well-maintained roof not only reflects pride of ownership, it also increases a home’s value.

But being a roofer in Medway is not easy.  Medway homeowners demand a lot from a roofing contractor.  For CTR00PREPDNLR0001Bexample, homeowners here want a new roof that is guaranteed to last a lifetime – after all, who wants the aggravation and the expense of putting on a new roof a second time?

That means that any roofer in Medway has to use the very best shingles and other roofing materials manufactured by the Certainteed Corporation, the world leader when it comes to roofing products.  Nothing less will do.

And it almost goes without saying that any roofing contractor worth his salt would need to have an extremely good local reputation.  That means a local roofer would need to have roofed lots of homes in Medway and have literally hundreds of satisfied customers.

How many roofing contractors here in Medway meet all of those criteria?  Not many.  One that does is United ctr00prepdnlr0001mHome Experts.  They have put new roofs on more homes here in Medway than probably anyone else.  They have literally hundreds of happy, satisfied customers in their files who would gladly recommend them.

One reason United Home Experts has so many loyal fans here in Medway is because they offer a 100% unconditional guarantee on their roofs – including labor.  That means that local homeowners never have to even think about a new roof again for as long as they live.  Talk with one of UHE’s expert roofing counselors for full details.

There is only one way any company can offer a lifetime guarantee on a roof and that is because they use only the certainteedlogo150dpik-resized-600 (1)very best shingles, flashing and water-tight barriers manufactured by the Certainteed Corporation.  UHE knows the importance of using only the best materials just as well as you do.

Two final thoughts.  First, are you particular about the people who work on your home?  You should be.  The roof installers who work for United Home Experts have been with the company, in many cases, for years.  Each and every one of them has been meticulously trained.  But some of UHE’s competitors hire their roof installers on a per-day basis, picking them up each morning from some local parking lot.  Are these really the people you want around your home and your family?

Finally there is the matter of cost.  Everyone wants a deal and hiring the #1 roofing contractor in Medway seems like it would cost an arm and a leg.  But it doesn’t.  Why?  Because United Home Experts roofs more homes than just about anyone in the entire Northeast.  That means they buy their materials by the boatload at deeply discounted prices.  United Home Experts passes those savings on to the homeowners here in Medway, making it totally affordable for homeowners here to hire the very best roofer in the entire area.

The people of Medway are always looking for ways to show their pride.  One way they do that is to help out our troops overseas and their families, and probably the best way to show their support is through the Trivia for Troops auction and raffle at the VFW Post 1526 down on Holliston Street.  Donations are accepted at all times of the year or you can sign up for the annual Trivia for Troops drive.

Another way Medway homeowners show their support for this great town of ours is the way they keep their homes looking so sharp.  One thing many homes can use is new low maintenance siding.  New siding makes any home look well-kept and demonstrates pride of ownership.

Naturally any siding contractor here in Medway needs to offer a low maintenance siding that lasts virtually InstallationCloseforever since no one wants to re-side a home more than once.  That requires a Medway siding contractor who has great equipment that is well maintained and it means a contractor who is expert at tall buildings as well as working in small, tight spaces.

It also means a siding contractor who knows everything there is to know about Energy Star ratings and a contractor who is well-known and well-respected locally.

That is a lot to ask for.  Fortunately there is one siding contractor in Medway who can fill all of those rather formidable requirements.  United Home Experts has replaced the siding for more homes here in Medway than probably anyone else.

United Home Experts has all of their own equipment and they are experts when it comes to working on tall structures and in working in tight, cramped spaces.  United Home Expert’s low maintenance siding means you never have to worry about your siding again as long as you own your home.  A once-yearly hosing and your siding is good to go, almost forever.  No one is better or has more experience than UHE.

When it comes to understanding Energy Star ratings no siding contractor in Medway has more experience than UHE.  Putting the right siding on a home – and installing it correctly – can save a homeowner literally hundreds of dollars a year on heating and cooling costs, and those savings just keep adding up year after year.

The only way United Home Experts can offer everything they do is because of the skill and the experience of theirBlog-Photo14 installers.  Most of their installers have been with the company for many years, and each and every one of them is expertly trained and highly skilled.  Unfortunately many of UHE’s competitors don’t share United Home Experts’ drive for excellence when it comes to installing siding.  Many siding contractors in Medway hire their day workers on a per-job basis from the local home center parking lot.  Is that really the type of people you want working on your home?

Naturally everyone wants a low price when it comes to re-siding a home.  Most people would not think that the best siding company in Medway could also be one of the most reasonably priced – but think about it.  UHE sides more homes than just about anyone in the Medway area.  That means they get the best price around on their siding material and they can pass those savings on to their customers.  So check them out.  Find out for yourself how affordable it is to hire the very best siding contractors here in Medway. For more information about our siding services, please visit our main siding page!

Over the past 10 years there’s been an swell of companies offering “permanent” coatings, that are advertised as “not paint”  I’m sure you’ve heard or seen advertisements for these products since they spend a crazy amount of money on advertising.  The claim that it’s “not paint” is false advertising in my opinion since it’s a “paint” product, applied with “paint” brushes, or a “paint” sprayer–but who sets the rules on what you can deem “not paint”? Where does the money for these expensive ad campaigns come from? You guessed it, they charge an eye-popping fee for their services. The business model is pretty ingenious, or down right dirty.

Permanent Coating System Business ModelAwesome guy

Step #1:

Make some fantastic claims about how your paint product is not actually paint, but a coating that lasts forever.

Step #2:

Create a “limited lifetime” warranty with “limitations” such as the warranty is void if the problem results from “failure of the substrate wall (rot) on which the product is applied” .That alone gets you out of most future warranty claims. “Sorry Mrs. Jones, our coating didn’t fail, the wood rotted underneath it which caused the coating to fall off, so god luck with that!”  Besides the average home changes owners every 7-8 years or so, even an average paint job lasts that long.

Step #3:

Charge 3-4 times the cost a standard paint job and make a ridiculous profit (yes it costs $15,000 – $40,000 per house). Now you can advertise the heck out of your gimmick “coating system” knowing that some people will fall for it.

Step #4:

When the warranty claims pile up, change your phone number and the name of your company and repeat from step #1.

Although admittedly I have never hired one of these companies, my advice is to proceed with caution.  Clearly my commentary is “tongue-in-cheek” but hopefully you get the point. Be skeptical of silly claims and sharp sales people.  Some of these coating products are nothing more than elastomeric paint that any contractor or homeowner can purchase at a local paint supplier.  These systems may work better in more temperate climates with less harsh winters, but here in New England I foresee the same problems as regular paint (wood swells, breathes, expands, contracts, rots, etc., and then paint can’t stick to it).

As an exterior home improvement company we offer virtually every exterior surface renovation option available: Wood Siding, Composite Siding, Vinyl Siding, and Painting.  We’ve been approached on multiple occasions with the “opportunity” to buy a franchise for a “permenant coating system” and we’ve passed over and over again. Why? In our opinion it’s just bad business.

After spending an enjoyable day combing Framingham’s famed Golden Triangle shopping district, topping the day off, perhaps, with a visit to the Ben and Jerry’s there on Worcester, it’s time to head on home and along the way appreciate all the lovely homes here in Framingham.

Homeowners here in Framingham are choosey about the windows they want installed in their homes.  For one thing, they want windows which not only look good, but which have a high Energy Star rating.  A high Energy Star rating translates directly into money saved on utility bills each and every month for years to come.  Homeowners know that the best replacement windows are fiberglass windows and wood windows by the Marvin Window Company.

When it comes to window replacement in Framingham homeowners also demand someone who knows all ofvinyl8500-series-rep-double-hung-interior-3-resized-600 Framingham’s local building codes and which permits are needed.  That means they want a window installer who has done lots of work right here in Framingham.

That sounds like a lot to ask for, but one local window installer is definitely up to the task.  United Home Experts has done more window replacements in Framingham than just about anyone else.  They have tons of satisfied local customers ready to tell anyone about their great experience with the professionals at United Home Experts.

Out of all the thousands and thousands of towns all across this country, CNN and Money Magazine voted Framingham the 36th best place to live.  That’s an achievement to be proud of!  But that’s not Framingham’s only achievement of note.  Way back in 1775, at the very birth of our nation, Framingham proudly sent 130 fighters to join in the battles of Lexington and Concord to help propel our nation to freedom.

Today the homeowners of Framingham are just as proud of their enviable heritage as were those early patriots.  Blog-Photo09And today’s homeowners know that one of the reasons their town is still the envy of the country and the 36th best place to live and raise a family is because the town of Framingham still maintains its intrinsic charm.

One thing that helps the town maintain its beauty is the siding choices that Framingham homeowners have made.  Siding is one of the first things that anyone sees when they drive through Framingham’s gorgeous neighborhoods.

So what does it take to be a siding contractor in Framingham?  Besides gorgeous siding, homeowners demand a low maintenance siding.  They require a low maintenance siding that also lasts virtually forever.  After all, Framingham homeowners do not want to re-side a home a second time.

In order to provide a low maintenance siding that lasts almost forever, a siding company must have excellent InstallationCloseequipment and they must be experienced working on all types of buildings, from tall buildings to the tightest of spaces.

They also must be intimately familiar with all of Framingham’s building codes and permits.  It follows from that that they must be well-known locally and have an excellent local reputation.

Finally, they must know Energy Star ratings backwards and forwards.  They must know the right siding to help local homeowners save on utility bills month after month, year after year, long after their new siding has been put in place.

Those are large shoes to fill, but one local company fills them nicely.  United Home Experts has probably sided more homes here in Framingham than any other siding company and their low maintenance siding keeps homes looking brand new for years and years.  In fact, it is almost impossible to drive through even one of Framingham’s historic neighborhoods without finding at least one or two homes that have been sided by United Home Experts.

And because they have worked on so many homes, apartments and commercial buildings here in Framingham, cornerthey can recite every local code in their sleep and they know every permit backward and forward. They will see to it that all the proper paperwork is filed.

When it comes to Energy Star ratings no one is better versed than the siding professionals at United Home Experts.  New UHE siding almost invariably results in lower energy bills in both Summer as well as Winter, for years to come.

UHE has all of its own equipment, carefully maintained.  They are experts in both tall building siding as well as in working in small, cramped spaces.  They have seen it all – and they can do it all.

One last point.  The quality of the workers who install UHE siding can’t be beat.  United Home Experts’ siding installers have been with the company for years, each one individually trained.  Compare that with many other local siding contractors who hire their installers for a day or two from a local parking lot.  Is that really the kind of people you want working on your home?

It takes a lot to be the best siding contractor in Framingham, MA, and there is a good reason why United Home Experts holds that enviable position.  Why not give them a call today and find out for yourself why they are the go-to siding experts here in Framingham. For information about our siding services, visit our main siding page!

Homeowners have a plethora of choices when it comes to roofing or re-roofing the home.  There is a multitude of different types of roof shingles on the market, with manufacturers trying desperately to convince the homeowner that their particular type is the very best choice.  What is it, really, that makes one shingle better than another?  This article will not make any attempt to sway a homeowner toward any one type of shingle, but will rather list the pros and cons of a wide number of roofing shingles types so the homeowner will be better equipped to make an informed decision.

So what are the choices in roofing shingle types that the homeowner is faced with? shinglesCut

Asphalt is probably the type of shingle most often applied to individual homes with a steeped roof.  Wood shingles are another popular choice.  In certain situations, metal shingles are recommended, especially for very steeply sloped roofs or for very low-sloped roofs.  Slate shingles are very popular, particularly in the Northeast where the slate is quarried. Finally, there are tile shingles, very popular in the Southwest, especially on homes with that classic Spanish look. Each of these different types of shingles has its pros as well as its disadvantages.

Asphalt Shinglesblackroofshingles

Asphalt shingles are one of the most popular forms of roof material and it is not difficult to see why.  They are relatively inexpensive in fact, they cost half as much as some other choices and they are easy to install by either a moderately skilled homeowner or a roofing professional.  Many coated asphalt shingles meet certain Energy Star standards and actually qualify for a government rebate.

The three-tab asphalt shingles are not coated, making them faster and easier to install than their coated counterparts, and are one of the least expensive of the roofing alternatives available to the homeowner.  Asphalt shingles, especially the three-tab variety, have a useful life expectancy of anywhere from 15 to sometimes as long as 30 years, depending on weight.

Asphalt shingles are lightweight and easy to install, which can reduce installation costs.  They are also relativelyCTR00PREPDNLR0001B easy to repair should something go wrong.  Another advantage to asphalt shingles is that they come in a variety of weights (higher weights lasting longer but costing more) and they come in a wide range of colors and patterns to go with almost any decorating style.  Many of the patterns on asphalt shingles are made to mimic other roofing materials, providing the homeowner with possibly the best all-around choice there is.

Homeowners considering asphalt shingles should immediately contact the experts at United Home Experts.  The shingle wizards at United Home Experts know everything there is to know about asphalt shingles and can give the homeowner a mountain of advice, free of charge and with no obligation.

If the homeowner wishes a professional to install a roof, the roofing experts at United Home Experts have many years of experience installing asphalt shingles and because they buy shingles in bulk they can give the homeowner the best deal in all of the Northeast.

Wood shingles are more costly than asphalt shingles.  Aesthetically, many people like the look of wood and wood shingles can sometimes enhance the value of a home, although because of the added fire danger of wood shingles, many homeowner’s associations ban wood as do some communities.  Hardwood shingles, those made of cedar or redwood, for example, provide good insulation and they can last as long as 50 years with only minimal attention.  Softer woods such as pine are less costly but do not last as long.  Wood comes in both shingles and shakes.  The primary difference between the two is that shingles are machine-made whereas shakes are hand cut.  One of the disadvantages to wood shingles is that they are not fire-resistant.  In fact, homeowners are advised to contact their homeowner’s insurance company to see if wood shingles will increase their fire coverage.

Metal shingles were once the almost exclusive province of the Northwest and the Rocky Mountains, but today they are making inroads in most parts of the country.  The only draw is that they can last 50 years or more.  Many people do not like the way they look, although paint can hide some of their features. They also tend to be noisy, and not only during hail and heavy rain; metal roofs may produce constant popping sounds as they expand in the heat and contract in the cold.  Metal shingles require an underlying insulation; however, even with the cost of the additional insulation added in, metal shingles can still be a very economical solution for many homeowners.

Slate shingles are extremely durable and long lasting.  Properly installed, slate shingles can easily last 50 years, perhaps longer.  Slate shingles can be difficult for a homeowner to self-install and there can be problems with the structure holding the weight of the slate and cause installation costs to sharply rise.  It is best for homeowners who wish to roof with slate to consult a roofing expert such as those at United Home Experts who have years of roofing experience to draw on.

Tile roofs are one of the most distinctive of the roof types.  These roofs are very popular in the southwest and are associated with classic Spanish-style homes.  Modern tiles can be made of either clay or concrete. Tile roofs are one of the strongest and most long-lasting of all roofing types.  It is not unusual for a tile roof to last for 50 years or more with only minor upkeep.  However, they are also difficult for the average homeowner to self-install, and they are heavy.  In fact, tile roofs are so heavy that unless the frame of the house has special supports to sustain the extra weight of the tiles, tile roofs can cause catastrophic failure of a home’s frame.  One of the other disadvantages of tile is the cost.  Compared with other roofing choices, especially asphalt, tiles roofs are one of the most expensive, not only to purchase initially, but also to repair.  Again, any questions about the appropriateness of a tile roof should be addressed to the roofing professionals at United Home Experts.

As stated earlier, homeowners have many choices when it comes to re-roofing a home, with one of the least expensive and fastest being asphalt shingles.  Hopefully this article has shed a little light on some of those choices and the inherent strengths and weaknesses of each type of roof.  It is highly recommended that homeowners who are seriously considering a new roof consult a roofing expert, such as those at United Home Experts, whether the homeowner intends to do the work him or herself, or if the homeowner plans to use the services of a professional roofing installer.
