Hydration, History, and Community in Ashland
UNITED HOME EXPERTS | APRIL 30TH, 2025
At United Home Experts, community is at the heart of everything we do. This year, we proudly volunteered at the 129th Boston Marathon, staffing the Hydration Station located right on Route 135 off Metropolitan Avenue in Ashland, Massachusetts. It was a day filled with enthusiasm, community spirit, and deep local pride.
Ashland holds a unique place in the history of the Boston Marathon. Inaugurated in 1897, the iconic race originally started in Ashland and remained that way for 27 memorable years. In 1924, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) moved the starting line to Hopkinton to achieve the now-standard marathon distance of 26.2 miles. Even after this change, Ashland has remained closely tied to the marathon’s heritage, continuing as a key town on the course and proudly supporting thousands of runners each year.
Our dedicated volunteers from United Home Experts enthusiastically handed out thousands of cups of water at our Hydration Station, conveniently located along Route 135 near Metropolitan Avenue. Our team cheered, smiled, and provided encouragement as each runner passed, energized by the excitement and determination surrounding this historic event. It was an inspiring day, marked by camaraderie, team bonding, and heartfelt support for every participant.

Our participation directly reflects the values championed by the Boston Athletic Association, emphasizing community, respect, and dignity. By volunteering, we embodied these principles, helping create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere that makes the Boston Marathon one of the most cherished events in New England.
Having proudly served the Ashland community for over 27 years, United Home Experts deeply values our local roots. Participating in the Boston Marathon was more than just an opportunity to volunteer; it was a chance to give back.
It was a meaningful celebration of our longstanding relationship with Ashland, a town rich in tradition, community spirit, and history. We look forward to continuing our active involvement and support for many years to come.
