What We Did

  • FC®Fiber-Cement Siding
  • New Window and door frames
  • Foundation Staining
  • Blown Insulation

These home owners in Newton, MA were pre-approved for a Capital One home improvement loan through United. They wanted to make their home more energy efficient, update the look of their home as well as preserving the integrity of it.

First we started with the surface preparation for the project. We took off all existing gutters, stripped all of the existing wood shingles and wood clapboards.

We also took off all of the old building paper, corner boards, eves, soffits and window and door frames. Then United did the blown insulation for all areas with loose or missing insulation to make the home more energy efficient.

Next we applied all new Tyvek® (vapor barrier) home wrap, aluminum drip caps for window/door trim flashing, and stainless Ring-Shank siding fasteners.  After that we installed FC-plank siding (pre-finished) Select Cedar mill style 6 ¼” product with approximately 5″ exposures.  The color was Autumn Tan

Then United installed new aluminum flashing above all doors and windows. In conclusion we finished caulking and reinstalled their existing gutters which were in good shape. Then we cleaned all of the foundation and applied 2 coats of concrete stain to the entire foundation of the house for a finished look.
