What a rewarding project this was!

We had the privilege of working on a roof replacement for a beautiful multi-family home in Upton, MA 01568. This particular project gave us the chance to not only improve the home’s curb appeal but also address some hidden issues that many homeowners might overlook when replacing their roof.

As with any roof replacement, it’s important to consider what might be lurking underneath the old shingles. Many homeowners don’t realize that the condition of the roof deck and sheathing is just as critical as the shingles themselves. Once we removed the old asphalt shingles, we discovered several areas where the sheathing was loose across the roof frame. This was a major issue, as loose sheathing could compromise the stability of the new roof. Securing the sheathing was crucial before installing the new shingles to ensure a long-lasting, secure roof.

But that wasn’t the only surprise we encountered. We found a cheek wall with a rafter protruding from the wall, causing an improper installation of the flashing. The flashing had been tucked under two layers of vinyl siding, which posed a risk for potential leaks down the road.

To solve this, we decided to carefully remove the vinyl siding in that area, reflash the section properly, and reinstall the siding. This approach ensured that we minimized the risk of future leaks, providing the homeowners with peace of mind knowing that their new roof would stand up to the elements for years to come.

At the end of the day, this project was a perfect example of how thorough, detailed work can make all the difference. Not only did we replace the shingles, but we also addressed hidden issues that could’ve led to costly repairs in the future. This home is now better protected, and the homeowners can rest easy knowing their roof is in top shape.
